Foundation repair in Ball, Louisiana
Foundation evaluations and repair for Ball, the town just north of Pineville in Rapides Parish.
Ball is a town of 3,961 people at the 2020 census, just north of Pineville. It began as a sawmill town; in 1893 Captain Chittenden Edwin Ball, a Red River steamboat captain, named it after himself. Camp Livingston opened nearby in 1940 and peaked at 42,500 troops in 1942, and many families stayed after it closed. Ball wasn't incorporated until 1972.
What does that history mean for houses?
A wide mix of ages. Some homes date to the years after Camp Livingston, others to the growth after incorporation, and newer ones keep filling in. Older houses are more likely to be raised or to have additions and porches on shallower footings than the main structure. Newer homes are mostly slabs. At about 161 feet, Ball sits higher than Alexandria, but higher doesn't mean drier soil, since clay subsoils can hold water through winter.
Common requests in Ball
- Porches and additions pulling away from the original house
- Slab homes with brick cracks at one end
- Raised homes with tired piers and sagging center floors
- Runoff from long driveways or sloped yards collecting by the foundation
Before the contractor comes out
If your house has had additions, note which parts were built when. A contractor reading floor elevations will want to know where the original foundation ends, because the two parts often move separately. Ball is its own town, so check with town hall or Rapides Parish about permits.

Yes. Call with your address and we'll connect you with a contractor that works north of Pineville.
Why is my addition separating from the house?
Additions and porches often sit on different or shallower footings than the original foundation, so they settle at a different rate. An evaluation with floor readings shows where the movement is.
