Foundation repair in Woodworth, Louisiana
Foundation help for Woodworth, a fast-growing town in southern Rapides Parish.
Woodworth is a town in southern Rapides Parish that grew from 1,096 residents in 2010 to 1,762 in 2020, an increase of about 60 percent. It's named for C. S. Woodworth, one of three men who bought land there in 1890 and started the Rapides Lumber Company. The mill later ran as Long-Bell Lumber Company of Woodworth until it moved out in 1926, and nearby Camp Claiborne brought people back during World War II. The town incorporated in 1942.
Newer homes, newer cracks
With that much recent growth, a lot of Woodworth houses are young slabs. New concrete and mortar always shrink a little as they cure, so a few fine cracks in the first year or two aren't cause for alarm. Pay attention if a crack grows month to month, if several doors start binding at once, or if a gap opens between the brick and a window. Homes that are still young may be covered by a builder's structural warranty, so pull out that paperwork and start a dated photo log before hiring anyone.
What contractors check on Woodworth lots
- Whether fill under a new slab was compacted evenly
- Where gutters and yard runoff drain on recently graded lots
- Wooded lots where tree roots reach the foundation
- Older raised homes from the town's mill and camp years
Permits in Woodworth
